our history

Creating custom keepsakes since 1978

In 1978, Barbara MacKellar began knitting baby blankets to soothe her nerves while her son underwent treatment for a heart condition. Her hobby blossomed as she made blankets for friends, then friends of friends, eventually earning her the nickname "The Blanket Lady." By the late '90s, she moved her knitting machines to her family’s manufacturing facility, where she works today with her husband and son. Now, nearly 50 years later, people who received her blankets as babies are ordering them for their own children and grandchildren, with each blanket still hand-finished with love.

"I received a bright pink blanket from my girlfriends after the arrival of my daughter, and it was truly one of my favorite gifts. It's such a fun, unique, personalized item that was so different from anything else we received. I use it ALL the time, especially when I need something to keep her toasty in her stroller while taking walks outside or through the mall. Since receiving it, I've given blankets as gifts several times, and they're always a hit!"
